Hey, I’m Wiley,
I’m head trainer here at Premium K9, located in Washington state, with a passion for helping both dogs and their owners build stronger, more meaningful relationships. My journey into dog training started back in 2013 when I was attending Central Washington University in Ellensburg. I decided it was time to bring a dog into my life, and after bringing home my dog named Tucker, I quickly realized just how challenging that decision could be.
Tucker was a handful when I first got him, pulling on the leash so hard that he even managed to forcefully drag my mom and sister over a few times when I visited home. He was reactive to other dogs, stubborn, and mostly disinterested in my attempts to engage with him. Jumping on couches, tables, and people was just the tip of the iceberg. While I knew something had to change, I had no idea where to start.
Determined to make it work, I hired a dog trainer, but after four sessions, hours of consistent work on my end, it became clear that her methods weren't going to help Tucker. His behaviors were too ingrained, and her approach wasn’t giving us the results we needed. That’s when I decided to take matters into my own hands. I dove deep into dog training, reading everything I could, watching videos, asking questions, and talking to others who shared my passion. I dedicated countless hours to learning the ins and outs of dog behavior and training.
Through my persistence and Tucker’s willingness to learn, we transformed from a chaotic mess into a well-functioning team. From an out-of-control pup to an exemplary service dog and a facility dog helping other dogs with behavioral challenges, Tucker’s journey became my own. This experience ignited a fire in me, one that fuels my desire to help others who are struggling with their dogs.
Now, I train dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments, specializing in obedience, manners, and behavior modification. Whether it’s working with puppies to establish good habits, tackling reactivity and aggression, addressing resource guarding (people, food, toys), or training service dogs for public access and task work, I’ve developed a skill set to help dogs live balanced, well-adjusted lives.
I’ve also had the privilege of working at a dog training facility here in Olympia, where I’ve gained invaluable experience working with a variety of dogs and their owners. Tucker often assists as a demo dog, showcasing the results of consistent, tailored training. This hands-on experience has further refined my approach, allowing me to customize programs to suit each individual dog and owner’s needs.
When I’m not working with dogs, you’ll find me enjoying the great outdoors with Tucker, hiking around the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I love attending concerts, comedy shows, and spending time with family and friends. I’m also a huge fan of playing softball (I played baseball in college), and I enjoy traveling, trying new foods, and spending quality time with my girlfriend.
My training philosophy is simple: every dog is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. My goal is to create a program that fits the specific needs of both the dog and the owner, ultimately giving them the freedom to live their best lives together. Through understanding how dogs learn and experience the world, I help owners establish structure and control that leads to a fulfilling relationship with their dog.
Whether it's creating a calm and well-mannered home environment, fostering positive behaviors in public, or training service dogs to support their owners, my mission is to bridge the gap between dogs and people. I want to create a linguistically fluent channel where both parties can understand each other’s needs and expectations, forming an everlasting bond.
At the heart of my work is a simple goal: to give dogs the best and most fulfilling life they deserve. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a dog thrive in a home where they feel safe, loved, and understood. I’m committed to helping owners feel confident in their ability to live with their dogs, providing the structure that grants access to all the world has to offer. Happy dogs that can go anywhere, anytime, and are an integral part of the family - that’s my vision.
Dogs only know the world we allow them to see. Let’s work together to expand that world and create a better, more fulfilling life for both you and your dog.
